A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Nathan Morin, Louise Valliere, Kenneth Proulx, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Dan Record, Amy Huter, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Jane Provencher, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Laurie Brodeur, Rosemary Rancourt, Christine Lindsey, parents, students, and members of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to approve the minutes of
the March 1, 2012 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, March 12, and March 19, 2012 for the amounts of $15,093.82 and $116,797.53. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.
COMMENTS None
DESTINATION Students of Destination Imagination, a problem solving team, performed their skits done at the regional competition for the Board.
GIRLS SOCCER On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to implement a girls’ soccer team at the Berlin Middle School, grades 6-8, for the 2012-2013 school year. The athletic program will restructure by eliminating one field hockey team and replacing it with this soccer team. The motion passed unanimously.
BUILDING TRADES On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to award the Building Trades Construction Contract for the 2012-2013 school year to Jeff and Janet Mercier. On a roll call, vote all members voted in the affirmative.
1st RDG I POLICIES On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the first reading of Policy, IKAA – Interdisciplinary Credit. The motion passed unanimously.
1st RDG EDCA On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to table policies EDCA and EDCA-R. The motion passed unanimously.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Home Schooled Students
- Student Drop-Out Rate
- District Data Teams
- Additional school information for the Mayor and Council as result of the FY 13 School Budget Presentation
COMMENTS Gary Bisson thanked everyone for supporting the BHS Boys’ basketball team.
NEW BUSINESS None
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Nathan Morin, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 8:07 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:59 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to accept the following staffing changes:

ADJOURN On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 9:02 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
